How Could I Forget!?

I don't know how I could have forgotten to update on Kyle! He will be 3 months old on Saturday, already! I can't hardly even believe it! He is already sleeping through most of the night, sometimes all the way through, waking up only once to eat! He is also now strictly on formula. Its a choice, i really didn't choose to make, but when it came down to it, it was the only way he was going to get the amount of nourishment he needed, because I was unable to give him that :o( Its rather bittersweet, though I did not enjoy nursing per se, I do believe breastmilk is what is best for baby and am very sad that I am unable to give him what I believe to be the best. God is in control, He is the one taking care of my baby and keeping him healthy in all reality. So all I can do is trust in Him, no matter how hard that may be at times!

1 week old

We had a weight check for Kyle today, he is now 11.4 lbs! He gained almost 2 lbs in 1 month! What a big boy! He is still considered small, but have you seen his parents!? We aren't all that big ourselves!

2 months old

We got him a couple new toys yesterday, one has bright flashing lights and plays his favorite music, classical. The other one you pull and it plays a short little diddy.... He likes them both, he stares so very intently at one and smiles at the other. I think we picked winners! He was there to help us make the decision though!

2 months old, just a bigger smile :o)

I don't know if you all know this or not, and I am probably biased because he IS my baby, but I have the most beautiful, wonderful, cool baby ever. And to up his awesomeness, he is already trying to walk. Screw crawling, he's going for a run! I just have to capture him mid-walk...

3 months-ish

I think thats all I have for now, for real this time.

Where do I begin?

It has been a few weeks since I have last updated, and I don't even know where to begin! So, things may just come out in a heaping mess of word vomit!

I'll start with the weekend after my last update.

Friday night, June 11, I started to have slight pain my tooth and thought, "Oh, I need to go to the dentist! Good thing we have our appointment on the 23rd, I'll just wait until then." Saturday morning, I woke up with a throbbing headache and major tooth pain. The more caffeine I drank the worse it seemed to be. Well, with it being the weekend, there was no getting into the dentist and ibuprofen and tylenol didn't even touch it! Sunday was much worse, I didn't sleep more than 3 hrs, and they weren't even consecutive, and I couldn't think straight. I could barely function! This whole time, Brandon was taking care of Kyle and when he was working, my mom and dad were taking care of him. Well, Sunday night we went to Brandon's parents house to hang out with Andrew, since he would be moving the next morning to Texas and Brandon was helping him move. I don't think I have ever been more grateful for my mother-in-law and the fact that she had some major surgery on her neck/shoulder.... I "borrowed" some much stronger meds and they took the edge off enough that I could finally go to sleep. Kyle and I ended up staying the night with Brandon, Michelle, the nephews, Andrew, and the Sousely grandparents. Then the next morning, after breakfast Kyle and I said goodbye to Daddy and went home. I thankfully got in for an emergency dental appointment that afternoon and was put on vicadin and penicillan for a nasty infection in my tooth. I then had to schedule an appointment for a root canal (which thankfully happened the very next day!)... Well, I was unable to take care of Kyle while under the influence of V, so my mom did that until Thursday last week!

Alright, my root canal. They numbed me with the numbing gel then gave me 3-5 shots on the outside gum, and boy was that numb! (didn't u-numb for another 4 hrs later) and then on the inside gum, they gave me 1 shot, directly into the area that was absolutely killing me! When that DIDNT numb, they gave me another shot in about the same area. Finally, i numbed up... however, when they got inside the tooth, the INSIDE was NOT numb... I have a bight block in my mouth, a rubber thing wrapped around my tooth so nothing gets in my mouth and I'm saying as loudly and clearly as I can while having a sharp needle thing poked in my mouth, "I can feel that! I can feel that!" The doctor put everything down, grabbed another shot, and right directly into that spot, gave me another shot to numb... OW OW OW OW OW! I immediately began crying and didn't stop until the whole thing was over. And then toward the end i was starting to feel it again.. I warned him that i don't actually numb well!

A few days later, my friend whom I haven't seen or talked to in more than 2 years, contacted me and came over to visit! I was so happy she did, I missed seeing her and chatting with her! She got to meet Kyle and he smiled and talked for her (good job Kyle!) and then she dyed my hair a reddish brown and came with me to cut it.... A surprise for Brandon for when he got back from Texas.

The next night (Friday, still following?) Michelle and I (and Kyle, he wasn't going to go because he was super fussy from no nap, but when he fell asleep 20 mins in, i knew he'd be out the rest of the night... surprise number 1 for Brandon!) went to the airport (midway) to pick Brandon up. His flight was to land at 10:50 pm Indiana time but didn't get in until around 12:30 and we didn't even leave until after 1 am. He was coming down the escalator when we both had a pretty interesting shock toward each other... He buzzed his head, and I dyed my hair. Thats right folks, my hubby's beautiful curls are GONE! ALL GONE! i couldn't believe he let Andrew do this to his hair! Twice now I have mistaken him for Andrew, ya know what that can do to a person's mind!? Anyway, needless to say, we both like each others changes and I guess I am going to be a "brunette" indefinitely. He however, is going to let his hair grow out again :o) I just love his curls.

Friday around 7pm, we lost power. We didn't have it back on until last night at about 10 pm. 98 hrs power free living. I'm thankful it is back on, its much cooler and easier to function with it!

Whew, that was a mouthful up there. As of right now, I think I have updated with everything worth updating about. Here are some pics to hopefully enjoy...!

A year ago Sunday

I wanted to post this Sunday June 6th, but time got away from me. Then I wanted to post this Yesterday, but the blogger wasn't working. So, I am posting it today, 1 year and 2 days from the date...

It was a Saturday evening, around 10-10:30. We went out to my friend's 21st birthday at Corby's. We hadn't been there long when we received a phone call from a friend bearing the saddest news to hit us as a married couple. Kyle Conrad had passed away. Brandon was in shock and disbelief, as was I. We tried to stay for the birthday but it became too obvious that something was bothering us. I let my friend know what had happened and that we didn't have any details yet. Just as we were getting ready to leave, I looked out a large window to the street, and walking down the sidewalk in downtown South Bend was a random man carrying a cross. I mentioned it to the whole gang that happened to be there and we watched him walk away. When Brandon and I walked out of the bar that man was gone. No where to be seen. I knew right then and there that Kyle was in a much better place, was much happier, and that he had already carried his cross, his journey on earth was done.

In church Sunday, Pastor Jeff had preached about carrying your cross. He looks at the term "To carry your cross" is to "take your ministry with you, wherever you go, whatever you do." That was Kyle. He was Loving God, loving others, and serving others. Which is also the theme for our children's church. I have believed from day one that God brought us to Cedar Rd Missionary Church for a purpose, and He is connecting our lives to who Kyle was. I don't think its just a coincidence.  He is doing great things and we are seeing Him more and more in our lives and in the lives of those around us. He is amazing.

Enjoy some of the greatest memories we have shared with Kyle, as well as his other friends and family...

Our wedding, Kyle is the tallest one in the Middle behind Brandon and myself.

Kyle is to Brandon's right.
