Lately I have been learning what it means to have boundaries. Simple right? Not always. I am doing a study on the book, which by the way you and your mom and all your friends and her friends should read... it is such an eye opener on where I personally have been walked on because I haven't had boundaries in place, where I have walked on someone else without knowing they had (or maybe didn't have!) boundaries in place, and putting my boundaries up and making them clear.
This is one of the most hardest books I have ever read in my entire life! How did they know my family? How did they know my in-laws? How did they know me?! It is amazing how God has opened this door and shown me life doesn't always have to be peaceful, because in keeping the peace someone gets trampled. It doesn't have to be happy-go-lucky, because there is hurt in life.
"For the spirit God has given us, does not make us timid, instead His spirit fills us with love, power, and self-control" 2 Timothy 1:7
If we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, and through us, we reap love to those around us. We love others. We have the power to control our reactions, and to gain wisdom and self control. We can't love the other person into changing. That comes from within. We can't show someone just what self-control looks like, they have to learn it. The Lord has given us the Holy Spirit to call upon Him when we cry out!
Joshua 24:15 says "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose this day whom you will serve, whether gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or gods of the Amorites in who's land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
Are you being a servant to the Lord? Are you praising Him for the good in your life? During the storm He brings you through? Without the bad we cannot grow and learn more about God's character. Without the bad we don't remember that He is who WE need to trust in. When things are good, are you remembering to praise Him, thank Him, and give all the glory to Him?
