July started out with the longest car trip to date. Thirty-nine hours and over 2,000 miles to the west coast. But it was a blast! The kids, my brother, and I drove all the way to Oregon to visit my other brother, while my parent's flew in. We had a great time while we were there and were dog-tired once we arrived. We visited the Historical Prison in Lancaster, WY and even took a few pics with the Washington Monument in Wyoming. I'm pretty sure when I posted the picture originally I accidentally put that it was in Nebraska, but at this point I don't really care if it's correct or not. I'm a zombie since arriving home from the trip. We visited new places and enjoyed God's beauty in nature throughout our entire trip.
After my parent's and brother flew home, the kids and I continued our journey to Washington where we spent some time with my sister-in-law Michelle and her family. The kids had multiple water balloon fights on this trip and I was delighted to have a few moments of time to myself, or with Michelle, where we could catch up and have some girl talk. It was so refreshing.
My in-laws are planning on having another garage sale this week and will be leaving the area to head toward Washington where they will make their trek to Hawaii. News has just come to me that I will not be working for the time being, so the dreaded idea of figuring out who will be watching my kids with the love of their family and by payment of hugs and kisses, is, for now, laid to rest. I'm anticipating the day where my kids will ask to go to Grandma and Grandpa P's house and we will have to explain that going to their house now requires more than a 7 minute car ride "around the corner". One day they can understand fully, but right now, they don't quite get it. However, the day we get to visit said grandma and grandpa, will be glorious.
My foot, continued swelling and bruising while we were on our trip. I walked a lot a lot alot. It ached some but it was different than before. And the top is still super tender to touch. I don't know exactly how long it is going to take to work through the scar tissue, but I'd like to be able to bend my toes in either direction and be able to touch the top without wincing. Slowly but surely I think we are getting there!
B is enjoying his internship, but was unable to join us on the trip. I think he would have loved it! But we are grateful for the opportunity to have gone and make new memories and experience new things with my family.
OH! And I went to Ikea for the FIRST time EVER! If I could, I'd spend every cent in that place. I told Michelle multiple times that "This is dangerous"... and it would have been too... We also visited Puget Sound where Brandon's aunt and unlce live. It was the most beautiful view I think I have ever seen. Sitting on the porch drinking my coffee and reading the Bible in the mornings would be such a wonderful feeling! Watching the kids play in the water, and toss the rocks to the dog or into the water for the dog to find, and trailing along the beach looking for gooey-ducks (sp) and making them spray water, or even camping out in "The Alamo" built by their cousin Dustin would be memories to last.
On the first stretch of our trip, baby Elliot was born. My closest friend and cousin, had her first baby while I was away. He was born about a week early, an though I was super excited for her and her hubby, I was saddened that it happened when I couldn't just pop over and hold her hand. Walk the hallways. Cry with her when the pain became more intense. Or when we found out that she wasn't going to be able to have him naturally, but rather through a c-section. And though I was unable to be there physically, I was there emotionally and prayerfully. I cried, I paced, I hugged my babes, and anxiously awaited news! He is so golden with the darkest hair. He's part Silveus, how in the world can this baby be so olive complected and dark haired!? But he is handsome like his daddy, and his daddy has an olive complection and darker hair, so I guess that's ok :) I'm so happy for them, and when I met the little precious baby, tears came to my eyes as if I was holding him fresh out. Like no time had passed. And he is so wonderful. I can't wait to watch him grow!
And lastly, the day after the trip ended, Jason and Jess FINALLY got engaged. I've been sitting on this information for a couple of months that it was going to happen, and each day I grew antsy to hear that it was official. I'm excited to welcome a new sister into the family!!
